Finger Lake Ice Fishing

We had a great ice fishing trip out to Finger Lake, in Wasilla. After a lazy morning around the house, we got out to the lake around 2:30 pm and quickly picked a spot to fish. We dropped my new Marcum underwater camera down and immediately saw dozens of rainbows swimming around near the bottom. I mainly played with my new camera toy, but Pam started catching fish almost immediately. After about 2 hours, she had caught 15 trout and 1 landlocked salmon with two of the trout being pretty nice 15 inchers. All in all, a very good afternoon.

Finger Lake is easy to get to, easy to access, and is a popular ice fishing spot. You can drive right onto the ice from the Finger Lake State Recreation Site Campground area off Bogard Road.

Fishing Report for February 13, 2022. Fishing was excellent. We encountered only about 6 inches of light snow on top of the ice, and no overflow. No need for an auger extension, yet.
